Mutual & Federal, a member of the Old Mutual Group, has been certified as one of South Africa’s best employers. The announcement was made last night at the Best Employer Awards held in Midrand. This is Mutual & Federal’s third certification since it started participating in the HR Best Practices research survey in 2010.
News of the certification was met with excitement at Mutual & Federal. “It is truly an honour to be recognized as one of South Africa’s best employers for the third consecutive time,” says Basetsana Magano, Mutual & Federal Executive for Human Resources.
“We are elated that our HR practices continue to rank among the best in the world and we are encouraged to do more for our employees, she continues.
To qualify for the Best Employer certification, Mutual & Federal participated in the HR Best Practices research survey developed and conducted by the CRF Institute. The survey measures HR policies and practices and scores organizations on their performance, relative to international standards. Employee benefits, working conditions, staff training, career development, company culture as
well as Black Economic Empowerment are some of the practices measured by the survey.
Best employers earn this certification based on their ability to create a work environment that enables employees to reach their full potential.
Magano credits this success to continuous engagement with employees. “We always encourage our employees to tell us what they think could be changed or improved on for us to better our business. We then make changes or improvements where possible. So this would not have been possible without the help of our employees”, she concludes.
The CRF is an independent research and media group, specializing in HR, strategy and leadership research. Best Employers SA is an HR policy research audit conducted into South Africa’s leading blue chips and multi-nationals in order to recognize companies with the best talent management frameworks and employee offerings.
