Soweto Floods
On Monday, 9 March 2009, Mutual & Federal took part in a Corporate Out-Reach Programme to bring some cheer and relief to families affected by the recent floods in parts of Soweto.
In collaboration with the South African Red Cross Society, Mutual & Federal distributed parcels to 150 families in Braamfischerville’s Thabong Section. The parcels consisted of toiletry essentials which had been specifically identified as a priority by the South African Red Cross Society. A team of Mutual & Federal staff members was also there to lend a helping hand during the distribution.
As one of South Africa’s leading short-term insurers we are all too familiar with the devastating effects of natural disasters. “In most cases, we are directly involved with those affected by natural disasters through dealing with claims from policyholders’’, says Vusi Ndlovu, General Manager for New Markets, Mutual & Federal. ‘’Through the years it has become evident that these acts of God do not only destroy bricks and mortar, but the human morale as well. We knew we had to do something to restore hope and optimism”.
