Keith Kennedy F.C.I.S., F.C.M.A., A.C.I.I. Managing Director
	He joined Mutual & Federal in June 2000 to head up the Commercial Business Division. In 2002 he was appointed Executive General Manager: Claims. He has more than 20 years experience in the short-term insurance industry and serves on the boards of Credit Guarantee Insurance Corporation of Africa Limited and the South African Insurance Association (SAIA). He was appointed Managing Director of Mutual & Federal in August 2007.

Debbie Loxton B. Comm, B. Acc, CA (SA). Finance Director
	Debbie was appointed Finance Director on 28 July 2009. She had been with the Old Mutual Group since September 2004, working in a number of senior risk, governance and internal audit roles for Old Mutual plc. Debbie spent 16 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers where she was made a partner in 1996. She is a member of the King III Internal Audit Sub Committee and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the International Institute of Internal Auditors' Professional Issues Committee.

Howard Walker B.Sc (Actuarial Science) Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries (Edinburgh) Fellow of the Financial Planning Institute Strategic Change Executive
	Howard was appointed to his current role in July 2010. He had been an Independent Consultant and Non-Executive Director of Companies prior to joining Mutual & Federal. Howard has held various senior positions at Alexander Forbes, including Head of Group Strategy and Managing Director of Alexander Forbes Financial Services South Africa. He has also worked for Old Mutual. Howard is a board member of Federated Employers Mutual (FEM), MS Life and Medscheme Asset Management.


Executive General Managers

Caroline da Silva BA, Post Graduate Diploma in Management Practice. Executive General Manager: Sales and Marketing
	Caroline joined Mutual & Federal on 1 August 2009 after spending 3 months at Old Mutual, where she got an understanding of the Group strategy. Before joining the Company, Caroline was with Santam and held the position of Head of Commercial Underwriting, and Head of Portfolio Management and National Brokers. Prior to 2005, she was with the South African Insurance Association for 7 years. Caroline has 22 years experience in the short-term insurance industry, including the broking and underwriting fields.

David Entwisle B.A. (Hons.). Executive General Manager: Information Technology and Business Support
	He joined Mutual & Federal in October 2007. He has extensive experience in Information Technology and Strategy in the Financial Services arena. Prior to joining Mutual & Federal he was a Programme Director at Old Mutual plc, driving a number of key strategic projects in South Africa, and has spent many years in various Information Technology roles in short-term insurance and banking in both South Africa and the UK.

Sedick Isaacs A.C.I.I., A.I.I.S.A. Executive General Manager: Claims
	Sedick was appointed Executive General Manager: Claims in May 2009, following his career as General Manager: Personal Business at ABSA. Prior to that, he had been with Mutual & Federal since 1984 and has held various positions including Manager: Personal Business, Group Manager: Old Mutual Liaison and General Manager: Technical. Sedick is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and of the Insurance Institute of South Africa. He is also Deputy President of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng.

Basetsana Magano M.B.A, B.A, Advanced Diploma in Labour Law. Executive General Manager: Human Resources
	Basetsana joined Mutual & Federal in September 2008. Prior to that, she held the position of Human Resources Executive at Hewlett Packard South Africa. Her previous portfolios include Human Resources Director at Nike SA, General Manager Human Resources at MTN and General Manager Corporate Services at Sun Air. She is an experienced Human Resources practitioner with extensive knowledge of working within multi-national organisations.


General Managers

Chris Kemp B.Com., C.A. (S.A.), F.I.R.M.S.A., A.I.I.S.A. General Manager: Risk Finance
	He joined Mutual & Federal as a General Manager in January 1998. He is the Chairperson of the Intermediaries Guarantee Facility Limited. He has specialised in Insurance Accounting and Risk Financing Insurance since 1979.

Brian Laird-Smith B.Com., C.A. (S.A.). General Manager: Finance and Group Secretary
	He has been General Manager: Finance since 1995, having previously held the role of Group Financial Manager from 1989. Prior to joining Mutual & Federal he spent 13 years with KPMG and presently sits on the Board of City Deep Salvage Company.

Vusi Ndlovu S.P.T.D, B.A, D.M.S. General Manager: New Markets
	Vusi joined Mutual & Federal in September 2008 from Alexander Forbes Financial Services where he held the position of Operations Head. He has worked as Regional Manager at Liberty Life and as Wealth Manager at Sanlam and Old Mutual Private Wealth Management. Vusi has amassed extensive Sales experience in the 12 years that he's been working in the insurance industry. He is currently finalising his dissertation towards an MBA qualification. Prior to joining the insurance industry, Vusi was a teacher and then Head of Department in the education sector.

Samantha Miller A.I.I.S.A. General Manager: Business Development and Sales
	She was appointed General Manager : Business Development and Sales in August 2008. Samantha has over 20 years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry, and has held a number of positions in the Corporate business area at Mutual & Federal in the past 10 years. She has deep insurance skills and well established broker network.

Steve Legge F.I.I.S.A., F.C.I.I. General Manager: Business Development and Sales
	He was appointed General Manager: Commercial Business, Independent Brokers in March 2005. He joined Royal Insurance U.K. in 1973 and was seconded to Mutual & Federal South Africa from 1984 to 1988 and became a permanent staff member of the company in 1989.

Ken Lawrence BL, LLB, A.I.I.S.A General Manager: Claims Technical
	He was appointed General Manager: Claims Technical in June 2008, focusing mainly on legal matters, procurement and claims innovation. He joined Mutual & Federal in 2000 as Regional Manager: Benoni Claims and has since held various other positions at Group and Regional Manager level. Ken has extensive management experience in the fields of law and Insurance.

Heidi Dias H. Dip. Business Management. General Manager: Claims Operations
	She was appointed General Manager: Claims Operations in February 2008. She joined the company in 1984 and previously held the position of Group Manager: Admin and Group Manager: Procurement. She also has extensive knowledge and experience in the accounting and analytical spheres of the business.

Edward Paul B.Sc (Hons.), FFA, CFA. General Manager: Product, Actuarial & Reinsurance
	He was appointed General Manager: Products, Actuarial & Reinsurance in February 2008. He joined Mutual & Federal in 2003, responsible for actuarial support to the company. Prior to joining Mutual & Federal he worked for Deloitte where he was responsible for actuarial services to clients in the short-term insurance industry.

Alan Burgess General Manager: IT
	Alan joined Mutual & Federal on 1 September 2009. Prior to his appointment, he was the Chief Information Officer for Dimension Data where he was responsible for all IT matters. He has held senior positions at companies such as Guardian Insurance and IBM and has a wealth of knowledge about the insurance industry and IT. Alan has worked as a board member of the DD Group Company.

Willem Smith B. Com. (Hons), MBL General Manager: Business Development
	Willem joined Mutual & Federal on 1 September 2009. Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Consultant at ABSA Insurance Company driving key strategic projects. He was a founding member of MiWay and was instrumental in conceptualising and establishing MiWay Finance (Pty) Ltd. Willem has over 8 years insurance related experience and held various top management and board level positions within the financial services industry.

Paul Hancock B. Com., B. Compt. (Hons.), C.A. (S.A.), C.I.A. General Manager: Risk
	He was appointed General Manager: Risk in January 2010. He joined Mutual & Federal in 1998 and held the position of Group Manager: Internal Audit. He was appointed to the position of Group Manager: Risk Financing in May 2007. Paul has extensive experience in the fields of risk management, internal and external auditing and risk financing.

Vuyo Lee M.B.A, BCom (Hons.), General Manager: Strategy and Marketing
	Vuyo joined Mutual & Federal in May 2010. She had been with Old Mutual South Africa since 2004, where her most recent position was managing the strategy function in the Retail Affluent segment. Vuyo’s experience spans from strategic research, MIS, managing a retention unit to strategy development, and she has worked for companies like Amalgamated Beverage Industries and Coca-Cola.

Lindsay Robertson A.I.I.S.A. General Manager: Specialist and External Platforms Business
	Lindsay was promoted to her current role in July 2010. Prior to that, she was the Group Manager responsible for Insurance Operations Support at Mutual & Federal – a position she’s held since 2008. Lindsay joined Mutual & Federal in 2000, taking up the role of National Group Schemes Manager. She has a wealth of experience in the insurance industry, spanning 26 years.
