What do I do when I have an accident? 
 
 

 



Stop your vehicle immediately.

 


Remain calm.

 

 



Render assistance to anyone who may be injured.

 

 

 


If there are injuries, do not move the vehicle until the police arrive on the scene.

 


Do not admit or accept liability.  If your car is not drivable call Swiftcare on telephone number 0800 247 365.

 

 



Record all relevant details of the other vehicle e.g.:

  • Vehicle make and model
  • Colour
  • Registration number
  • Information relating to the owner/driver and witnesses. 
  • Draw a plan of the accident scene.  

 





Print this Accident Detail Form and keep it in your glove compartment.

 


If your car is drivable, phone one of our Multi-purpose or Assessment centres to make an appointment for an assessment.

 



Report any accident to the police within 24 hours.

 

 


Advise us immediately by lodging your accident claim.

 
 
 
 
Non-Motor Emergencies 
 
What are the emergency procedures in the event of:
  • A Burst geyser or pipe claim

    - Switch off geyser switches MARKED "Geyser and Geyser Isolator" on main electrical distribution board.
    - Turn of the water at the inlet valve to minimise further water damage to ceilings, walls, carpeting and furniture.

    For your convenience we have provided you with an image of a geyser to help you identify where a leak could occur.
  • A Storm, Hail or Flood claim

    - Dry up as much water as possible to minimise further damage.
    - Carpeting can be saved if drying takes place promptly.
    - Remove furniture and household contents from wet areas.
  • A Fire claim

    - Contact the emergency services immediately.
    - Make sure the occupants of the house are safe and evacuate home immediately if the fire is out of control.
    - Notify us as soon as possible of the claim as we have a system in place to deal rapidly with these types of substantial losses.
  • A Burglary claim

    If you enter your property and notice anything out of place:
    - Leave the property as the intruders may still be inside.
    - Call the police from the neighbour's home
  • A Glass claim

    - A plastic bag can be taped over the broken pane until it is replaced.
