Mike Harper - Chairman, Mutual & Federal

Mike was appointed chairman of Mutual & Federal in May 2012. Having worked in the Old Mutual Group since 1979, Mike has served in several executive positions including Strategy Director for Old Mutual Emerging Markets, leading strategic work across Asia, Latin America, South Africa and Africa markets. He also served as Distribution Executive on the OM Group Long Term Savings executive in London.  Mike served on the Boards of Old Mutual Unit Trust, Old Mutual Investment Group and the Council of the Botanical Society of South Africa. Peter Todd – CEO, Mutual & Federal

Peter joined Mutual & Federal as the Managing Director in February 2011.  Previously he ran distribution for Absa Financial Services division and was also responsible for Absa Insurance and Financial Advisers.  Before joining Absa, Peter was Regional Managing Director for Lockton Asia (formerly Alexander Forbes), where he was responsible for the Group’s business in seven countries across Asia.  Peter has extensive experience in the insurance industry and has held senior positions at companies such as Alexander Forbes and AIG South Africa. Mark Baxter

Mark Baxter was appointed as Deputy CRO and Group Chief Actuary for Old Mutual plc in May 2011 - responsible for the global actuarial function of the Old Mutual Group which operates in the UK, South Africa, Scandinavia, Europe and Latin America. He has held senior roles in consulting, regulation and risk in the UK, Hong Kong, China and in Austria. He currently serves as a Director of Skandia Holding Company UK and the Old Mutual Wealth Management Board. [back to top]

   

Almorie Maule

Almorie is a distinguished businesswoman who is currently a Director on the Boards of Old Mutual and South African Women in Oil and Energy. She has specialist expertise in the mining, gas and oil industries with a specific focus on strategic advice in the arena of transformation and empowerment. Mahmood Mia

Mac is a former banker, having spent 19 years with Natal Building Society and thereafter as managing director of New Republic Bank from 1987 to 1996.

He was the founder member of FASIC Investment Corporation in 1997, one of the first Black empowerment companies in the country, which bought, and currently owns, the Lion Match Co Ltd., as well as having purchased the South African interest of Kimberley Clark in 1998.

He is currently a consultant/advisor on mergers and acquisitions and, in addition, he is a director of Tongaat Hulett Group, Mutual & Federal, Durban Technology Hub, High Footprint Management, as well as an audit committee member of Mutual & Federal (Chair), Tongaat Hulett Group, Ezimvelo Wildlife (Chair), Momentum Health (Chair) and Durban Technology Hub (Chair). He is also chair of the Council of the University of KwaZulu Natal and the treasurer for the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities. [back to top]

   

Marshall Rapiya

Marshall joined Old Mutual in 1978 and currently holds the position of CEO: Old Mutual South Africa. He has held various senior positions within the Old Mutual Group including the position of Chief Executive: Group Schemes in 2005 and Managing Director: OMSA Retail Mass Market in 2006. He serves as a board member of Old Mutual Finance and Business Doctor JV, Old Mutual Educational Trust, Masisizane Section 2 Co, Housing investment Partners, Vaal University of Technology and now Mutual & Federal. Paul Truyens

Paul was a senior manager with PwC in the Netherlands from 2002 to 2007. Prior to that, he enjoyed a 20-year actuarial career with Southern Life in Cape Town, ending as chief actuary and CFO, and a member of the executive directors’ committee.  Paul currently serves on the Board of Old Mutual South Africa, where he is chairman of the Risk Committee and of the Committee for Customer Affairs; a member of the audit committee, and on the board of Old Mutual Kenya.  He is also a non-executive director of Infrastructure Finance Corporation (INCA), where he has been on the board since its inception in 1996. Phuti Tsukudu

Not only a Mutual & Federal Non-Executive Director since October 2006 Phuti is also the founder and Managing Director of Tsukudu Associates, a senior partner in CRG-People Performance Solutions and chairs the board of Ditshwanelo CARAS.  She serves on the boards of Cape Lime, Cape Town Film studio, Afrimat Limited, Credit Guarantee Insurance Corporation and Food bank SA. Phuti is a qualified teacher and a member of the Diana Cooper School in Africa. [back to top]
